Making sure that you have everything you need for your triathlon is essential for a good race performance, but the worry of forgetting something can be a major factor in increasing pre-race nerves.

We’ve put together a simple list of all the items that we’ve commonly used in races over the years so you can keep tabs on everything you’ll need for swim, bike and run on the big day, helping you to relax your mind, safe in the knowledge that everything in your transition bag is present and correct.

The checklist is split into six sections:

  • Registration – the things you might need to take to collect your race number
  • Pre-race – items that you’ll need to setup transition area or use before going back into your transition bag or box
  • Swim – kit you’ll need exclusively for the swim
  • T1 – things you’ll need to setup in transition to use during the bike leg
  • T2 – all your running gear and nutrition to see you to the finish line
  • Post-race – optional items to refresh yourself once you’ve completed your event.
