Get the chance to win pro tri prizes in the PTO’s 10 Days to Daytona competition with proceeds going to the COVID-19 Triathlon Relief Fund.
The Professional Triathletes Organisation has partnered with the USA Triathlon Foundation to launch a COVID-19 Triathlon Relief Fund, designed to support race directors, coaches, clubs and athletes all around the world.
To support the fund, the PTO is running a global 10 Days to Daytona prize draw from 23 November to 2 December in the run-up to the PTO 2020 Championship at Challenge Daytona, which will take place on 6 December.
The organisation has teamed up with some of its star-athlete members and the sport’s most preeminent names, with the likes of Jan Frodeno, Daniela Ryf, Lucy Charles-Barclay, Sarah Crowley, Dave Scott and Mark Allen all donating prizes.
For each of the promotion’s 10-day run, there will be five unique prizes up for grabs, which will go to five lucky entrants picked at random. To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do head to the PTO 2020 Championship website from 23 November and buy a $5 entry – less than the cost of a swim cap. There’s no limit on entries either, so you can up your chances if you’re feeling flush!
While there will be some awesome merchandise up for grabs – what triathlete wouldn’t want Normatec Recovery Boots? – there’s also the chance to win once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to engage directly with living legends like Ryf, Scott or Frodeno.
“2020 has been a difficult year for everyone,” says PTO co-president and 2019 Kona runner-up Tim O’Donnell. “Thankfully, PTO Professionals have been able to weather the storm better than most by the support they received when the PTO paid out over $2,500,000 to 200 professionals earlier in the year.
“PTO Professionals wanted to find a way to pay it forward”
Tim O’Donnell
“Many in our community have not had this type of support, so PTO Professionals wanted to find a way to ‘pay it forward’. The PTO 2020 Championship is a great opportunity for PTO Professionals to engage the triathlon community and provide a platform for people to lend a helping hand to those in need.
“The PTO 2020 Championship will be the race of a lifetime. While we will all be competing furiously, it is good to know that at the same time we are providing some help to others.”
In addition to goodies coming from the pros themselves, there’s the chance to win VIP race experiences as well as prizes from USA Triathlon, British Triathlon, Challenge Family, Challenged Athletes Foundation, Active.com and many more – showing that this is truly a global initiative to help those in the triathlon community most affected by the pandemic.
As such triathlon fans are encouraged to donate to the cause as part of the PTO 2020 Championship coverage, with the chance to target the country or region that each donation will go to help.
While entries and donations are welcomed by those who can contribute to the COVID-19 Triathlon Relief Fund, the PTO will be making coverage of its first flagship event totally free to anyone who wishes to watch – with a number of worldwide broadcast platforms due to be announced shortly.
Don’t forget to head to the PTO website on 23 November, donate your $5 to enter the 10 Days To Daytona prize draw and help support triathlon around the world.
