The Collins Cup features 12 head-to-head battles between athletes from Team Europe, Team US and Team Internationals over a 2km swim, 80km bike and 18km run. The top four men and women in the rankings for each region are automatically qualified, while team captains – legends of the sport – can pick another two of each gender.
Sanders, currently ranked PTO World #3, is in the top spot for Team Internationals. Heather Jackson is Team US #2 and ranked PTO World #18. Meanwhile, Sebastian Kienle has struggled to show his best form so far this season and sits as Team Europe #10 and PTO World #21 – and needs a big performance to get to automatic qualification.
