The PTO’s new Greater Than One video series follows four-time Ironman 70.3 champion Chelsea Sodaro’s return to racing as a new mother.
Greater Than One will feature five episodes chronicling Sodaro’s journey through the late stages of pregnancy, early motherhood and the quest to regain her fitness in time for the Collins Cup. That gives the American rising star just three months to go from childbirth to elite competition as part of Team USA on 28 August at the PTO’s inaugural flagship event.
Using authentic self-shot footage – along with clips from the family archives and insights from other sporting mothers such as Michelle Vesterby – Greater Than One takes us inside Chelsea’s life as she balances raising a newborn with getting back to the top of the sport.
It’s a candid take, showing the emotional highs and lows of Sodaro’s determined mission to prove becoming a mother and racing as a professional athlete aren’t mutually exclusive. Episode one is out now and you can watch it right here below.
Chelsea’s goal of racing for Team USA at the Collins Cup won’t be an easy one to achieve as not only does the American need to fly back to fitness, she’ll have to secure qualification.
She’s currently ranked USA #4 and in the event’s final automatic qualification spot – a place held thanks to the PTO’s innovative maternity leave policy. But it won’t be plain sailing as there are plenty of other athletes who are highly motivated to make the cut.
Greater Than One will tell Sodaro’s story in five parts released in April, May, June, July and August. Don’t forget to subscribe to the PTO Hub YouTube channel to stay up to date with Greater Than One and all the great triathlon content the PTO is producing.
